Department Information

The marketing controlling team is part of the marketing department and supports all marketing teams across various brands and regions in reaching their targets. The marketing controlling team has a dual reporting line into the central controlling team which is part of the finance department to align on processes and best practices throughout the company.

Our team mirrors the organizational structure of the marketing team: by brand, by functional team and by campaign. We are actively involved in setting up budgets, long term targets and reforecasting with all involved parties. We report on the current performance against these plans and indicate the impact on the future performance. Additionally, we have a lead role in measuring performance to drive Return on Investment and value creation against defined campaign objectives in line with the Marketing Strategy throughout the full end-to-end campaign development process. The controlling team is using a wide range of tools to support these analyses, forecasts and strategic activities.

The general PVH controlling objectives can be explained as follows:

  • Support the organization to achieve its business targets
  • Controlling teams mirror the organizational setup with a stakeholder focus (e.g. marketing, management, finance)
  • Controlling is responsible for understanding the past, current and future numbers
  • Controlling provides (financial) advice on strategic projects
  • Responsibility and ownership of reported numbers support the financial closure and reporting a smooth process

Specifically, the Marketing controlling team

  • Reports on financial performance to the marketing leadership team
  • Owns KPI framework, challenges and sign off on methodologies to measure performance and stimulate learning
  • Monitors marketing and financial KPI’s
  • Controls Opex and Capex of the marketing teams
  • Analyzes company performance and link to marketing budget
  • Supports data driven marketing approach

Position Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and monitor marketing KPI framework and methodologies
  • Prepare dashboards and reports on marketing performance with a focus on delivering results
  • Support senior manager with ad-hoc leadership team requests
  • Interact independently with senior executives and manages stakeholders across different functions to exchange information (a.o. media, CRM, ECOM, digital marketing)
  • Act as sparring partner for other marketing teams in shaping their learning agenda and marketing experiments
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external businesses to structure the performance measurement process
  • General optimization of processes and business issues
  • Drive transparency on cost drivers and ROI to advise on future investments
  • Receives minimal guidance, is able to work independently and get things done while managing competing deadlines
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree in Finance / Controlling / Econometrics

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant work experience in a role structuring performance measurement processes, maintaining KPI framework and measuring performance
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in performing business analyses, cost modeling and accounting/finance (ROI, NPV)
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills (working and structuring data)
  • Exceptional communication and constructive stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in media/fashion/FMCG/retail industry preferred
  • Familiarity with fundamentals of digital marketing is a plus
  • Expertise with MS Excel and MS Power Point
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing processes and deadlines
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and drive change
  • Highly motivated/driven/proactive approach to business needs
