TOMMY HILFIGER PUBLISHES MEMOIR AMERICAN DREAMER
Tommy Hilfiger announces the global launch of Tommy Hilfiger’s memoir, American Dreamer, which chronicles his life and career in becoming one of the world’s most renowned fashion designers and will be on sale beginning tomorrow. From his beginnings as an eager entrepreneur in Elmira, New York, to founding his namesake brand and building international growth, the memoir shares Hilfiger’s most genuine and moving recollections.
“After more than 40 years in the fashion industry, I wanted to record the memories behind my life and brand,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “American Dreamer is a road map of the moments that have defined both my career and my personal life—from my childhood in Elmira, New York, to building a global business. I’m excited to share my journey and I hope it can inspire others to pursue their dreams.”
American Dreamer has earned early praise:
“Whenever I think of Tommy Hilfiger, I think of a designer who has been able to wrap fashion in the American flag. In American Dreamer Tommy shows how he has taken the (rock) stars and the (preppy) stripes and come up with a look—and a label—that are recognized globally as being quintessentially American, as well as a brand that constantly keeps time with pop music.”
American Dreamer was written by Tommy Hilfiger in collaboration with Peter Knobler. The cover artwork was shot by renowned photographer Richard Phibbs at the Tommy Hilfiger brand’s Fifth Avenue Flagship store in New York City. It is published by Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random House, a division of Penguin Random House, the world’s largest trade-book publisher, whose parent company is Bertelsmann AG of Random House. The memoir will be available worldwide on tommy.com and at select Tommy Hilfiger retail stores.
