Organized criminals are working hard to get fakes into our hands and consumers are buying them in record volumes, fueling the demand. But who would buy counterfeits if they knew that handbags can kill?

Alastair Gray is the Brand Protection Manager responsible for policing the Internet and digital worlds for rip-offs, counterfeits and brand abuse.

Before joining Tommy Hilfiger, he spent ten years working as an undercover investigator to solve cases for businesses and brands. His work has included intellectual property theft and infringements, whistleblowing, cybercrime incidents and even stolen antiques. His natural curiosity draws him to connect the dots between those behind criminal counterfeit networks, their distributors and factories, often through the clues they leave behind online or other publicly available information.

Alastair graduated from the University of Durham with a Bachelor’s in Combined Arts (History, English and Politics) and has been trained in advanced open-source intelligence gathering and surveillance.
